An amazing array of Gardens!
Nestled in the Surrey/Hampshire hills, Grayshott is an award-winning village famous for being ‘the village that has everything’. Situated in an area of outstanding beauty, surrounded by National Trust forest, many of our gardens enjoy stunning views of the undulating countryside and benefit from the acidic, sandy soil.
Our Hidden Gardens of Grayshott event allows you to explore the village and be inspired! During the two day event you’ll discover a wide range of gardens from the courtyard to the stately, formal to cottage, contemporary to woodland and the intimate to the ambitious. There is a thriving allotment community with two sites in the village, producing an array of home grown fruit and veg. The village has also benefited from planting throughout, courtesy of the money raised at previous events, just look out for the signage dotted around the village to see where the money has gone.
And don’t forget that several gardens will be selling plants so you can create your own Hidden Garden!
We are keen to involve all the community and the event always provides an element of surprise! In 2019, the local fire station was open and provided demonstrations. At the forge you could watch local swordsmith, Rod Hughes making a sword and see traditional shoe-making. Our local shops kept the spirit of the event alive and decorated their shop windows with gardening themed displays and the beautiful St Luke’s Church serenaded us with their church bells. It really is a fabulous day out for all the family, the young, the old, and in a selection of gardens our four legged friends are welcome too!
Keep your energy up!
At the heart of the village you’ll find a busy community of eateries, independent shops and local attractions, such as the historic Grayshott Pottery; many of which open especially on the bank holiday for our Hidden Gardens of Grayshott event.
Whether you’re a gardening enthusiast, looking for something to entertain the family or just somewhere to enjoy an afternoon tea, Hidden Gardens of Grayshott has something for everyone.
Its official volunteering is good for you!
Research reveals that volunteers are generally happier and healthier, so if you live locally and would like to get involved please let us know! The event wouldn’t be possible without our wonderful volunteers who open their private gardens for public enjoyment, help to run a whole host of fun activities, bake the tasty cakes or help make the event run smoothly on the day.
